Penn State's Harleman Lecture to feature Dr. Gerry Galloway

University Park, PA — Dr. Gerry Galloway, the Glenn L. Martin Institute Professor of Engineering at the University of Maryland, will deliver this year’s D. R. F. Harleman Honorary Lecture in Water Resources Engineering at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 in the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) auditorium. A reception, held prior to the lecture, will begin at 4 p.m. in the ARL lobby.

Galloway’s talk, titled “Katrina’s Wake-Up Call: The Role of Engineers and Scientists in Guiding National Water Policy,” will address the fragility of the nation’s built environment and the need to deal with water resource issues in light of the recent hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Established in 2002, the annual lecture honors 1943 Penn State civil engineering alumnus Donald Harleman, professor emeritus and senior lecturer in civil and environmental engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
