Job Description:
This is to fill a part-time adjunct faculty position at the University of Maryland College Park campus.
Qualifications:
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Maryland College Park is looking for someone that is passionate about teaching and has professional experience in the area of design of concrete structures. Our department strives to maintain a teaching staff with diverse practical skills so that our students have the best education possible. A lecturer position is available to teach our Design of Concrete Structures course. The position requires at least a Bachelor of Science degree with at least 5 years of professional experience in the general area of Civil Engineering with a focus on concrete structures. The course will be delivered in person at the College Park campus. The course content covers combined bending and compression, development and anchorage of reinforcement, deflections, design of slabs including one-way and two-way, design of footings, retaining walls, introduction to prestressed concrete, design of multi-story buildings. The course is offered every Fall semester in 2 sections, the expected time commitment is 3 contact hours per section and 2 hours for on campus office hours. Prior course content and materials will be made available.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some teaching experience.
Pay Rate:
The total compensation is about $16,400 for the 12 weeks of fall instruction (last week of August to mid December)
