CEE Alum Dr. Nur Yazdani heads the CEE Dept. at University of Texas at Arlington

Dr. Nur Yazdani is the Chair of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of the University of Texas at Arlington. Dr. Yazdani is a Ph.D alumni of the University of Maryland's Civil and Environmental Engineering department.

During his career, Dr. Yazdani has received numerous awards for his teaching and research abilities and has secured more than $8 million from externally-funded research projects, on most of which he is/was the principal investigator. A Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineering and a registered professional engineer, Dr. Yazdani is the author or co-author of numerous articles published in well-known professional journals, and an invited speaker at conferences and seminars on structural engineering.

Dr. Yazdani was formerly with the Florida A&M University - Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) College of Engineering, where he was a Professor, the Graduate Coordinator and the Director of the Infrastructure Research Laboratory. He is well known for his research on hazard mitigation of coastal construction and concrete/timber bridge design and repair. Examples of his notable research include the in-home hurricane shelter technology FDOT concrete bridge technology, and utilization of steel fibers in post-tensioned concrete bridges.
