Staff Spotlight: Pam Lloyd

Serving as direct support for the department chair carries a wide range of responsibilities—not the least of which include managing travel, overseeing expenses, and coordinating department initiatives.

For Pam Lloyd, the past year has centered on the opportunity to make the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering’s newly created Assistant to the Chair position her own – and evidence of her hard work is made apparent to anyone who sets foot in the department office.

In addition to mastering the art of calendar management for Dr. Schwartz, Pam’s creative talents shine through Martin Hall, where she is leading an initiative to breathe life back into the hallway display cases and the department office décor.

While she has worn many hats throughout her career, creativity stands as a recurring theme in all Pam’s endeavors. » Read more

CEE Welcomes Laurel Nye and Katie Le

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering proudly welcomes Finance Coordinator Laurel Nye and Business Manager for the National Transportation Center (NTC@Maryland) Katie Le.

Nye comes to the University of Maryland from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., where she worked as the Grants & Contracts Manager in the Controller’s Office. Nye served as a grant accountant on the post-award side for the college for nearly seven years until she and her fiancé relocated to the East Coast this past spring. The two live in Washington, D.C., just three blocks from Nationals Stadium.

Le joins the department from the School of Public Health, where she served as a pre-award research coordinator. Prior to coming to the University of Maryland in Nov. 2013, Le was a contract administrator at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Her career in research administration first began in 2009 with the Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology and Goddard Earth Sciences & Technology Center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

New Visitor Parking Meter Code Form

The department has created a new form for requesting Parking Meter Codes for your visitors. By using this form, Pam can collect all of the necessary information to issue the parking meter codes, and the business office collects pertinent information needed about the business purpose of the visit that will be kept with the accounting records.

Please use this form for any future visitors, effective immediately. Completed forms can be submitted to Pam Lloyd in person or via email.

Call for Faculty Research Papers/Abstracts

As part of the department’s ongoing web audit, please review the Faculty Research page of the website, which currently features project abstracts/summaries. Current and prospective students and faculty often visit this page to learn about CEE’s research efforts; however, it is in great need of updates.

Any faculty members interested in posting either recent or ongoing project information can submit their abstracts and any pertinent materials to Alyssa Wolice. Submitted materials do not need to match the format of those projects already listed online but, please make sure the principal investigator(s) and sponsor(s) are clearly noted.
